Ranbir Kapoor won his first Filmfare trophy in his debut movie Saawariya (2007) as Best Male Debut sending signals that he is here to stay. After the failure of Saawariya, Ranbir had to wait for two years until he got the opportunity to prove his talent in the year 2009. This year he gave three movies Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, Wake Up Sid and Rocket Singh. Interestingly for all the three movies Ranbir was given a combined ‘Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor’. Later in 2011 for Raajneeti, he was again nominated as Best Actor.

9. Anil Kapoor

Anil Kapoor ranks ninth in the list as the actor in his career spanning three decades and won 2 Filmfare Best Actor Awards and six nominations. Though this award was in the category of ‘Best Supporting Actor’ yet this award gave solid impetus to Anil Kapoor’s fading career. The two awards he won as ‘Best Actor’ are for Tezaab (1989) and Beta (1993). However his most deserving awards for Eeshwar (1990),  Lamhe (1992), 1942: A Love Story (1995) ended up with mere nominations. And what’s most agonizing is that his career’s best performance in Voh Saat Din, that established him in Bollywood as an actor was not even nominated!! If you have seen, Voh Saat Din, then you will surely feel, Anil Kapoor certainly deserved an award for the movie!

8. Naseeruddin Shah

His second award was for his little known movie Arjun Pandit (1977). Though the movie was a failure at box office, it had Sanjeev Kumar playing the dual role of a village pumpkin and a dread dacoit to perfection. You would be bemused at the award’s functioning because the same year Sanjeev Kumar was also nominated for his yet another classic performance in Mausam, for which Sanjeev Kumar was even awarded the National Award!  Yet the FIlmfare judges chose to ignore his milestone performance for a lesser known performance in Arjun Pandit!!
